For generations, the Hamptons have embodied a unique mix of heritage, refinement, and summertime ease. It is a destination where historic shingle-style homes meet contemporary architecture, where art fairs draw global collectors, and where the luxury market feels as natural as the sea breeze. Now, East Hampton has gained a new expression of timelessness with the opening of the Rolex Boutique by London Jewelers at 28 Newtown Lane.

A Historic Home for an Iconic Brand

The new boutique resides in Odd Fellows Hall, a 4,800-square-foot building dating back to 1897. Once a hub for gatherings and civic life, the landmark has been meticulously reimagined as a stage for one of the world’s most coveted watchmakers. The restoration maintains the building’s grandeur, while interiors reveal the crisp elegance of Rolex: marble details, wood paneling, and generous natural light.

Beyond its architectural poise, the boutique offers intimacy and discovery. Guests may explore curated salons, private lounges, and a second-floor terrace overlooking gardens that feel more like a Hamptons estate than a retail setting. The result is not a store in the traditional sense, but rather a sanctuary for collectors and enthusiasts—a place where precision and artistry are presented with the same reverence as fine art.

A Legacy Forged in Persistence

For London Jewelers, the East Hampton opening represents the culmination of nearly a century of heritage and over 50 years of partnership with Rolex. That journey, however, began not with prestige but with persistence.

“In 1976, I called Rolex for like two years trying to get them on,” recalled Mark Udell, CEO of London Jewelers. “It was a little mom and pop store my parents had in Glen Cove and we didn’t really have any high-end brands. And finally, after two years, Bob Reynolds called me and said, ‘I’m going to come out and see you.’ He goes, ‘You are so persistent, that we’re going to sell you the line, ok?’ You know what? It worked.”

That determination set London Jewelers on a trajectory that would transform both the family business and the local luxury landscape. Udell remembers clearly the very first Rolex sale. “At the time the men’s gold President was $2,700. My dad said, ‘How are you going to sell a watch for $2,700?’ I said, ‘Dad, we have no choice.’ … At about 5 o’clock the first night, one of my doctor customers was looking in the window. He says, ‘I’ve wanted this watch for many years. Today’s your first day. I’m going to buy it.’”

Those early moments now echo inside the East Hampton boutique, where a Day-Date President in Everose gold retails for nearly $50,000. The contrast is a testament to Rolex’s enduring legacy—and to London Jewelers’ role in cultivating generations of collectors.

A New Destination in the Hamptons

Today, standing in the newly opened boutique, Udell’s passion for the brand is as strong as ever. “I can’t wait to wake up to come to the boutique every morning,” he told a crowd gathered for the opening. That enthusiasm is shared by the Hamptons community, where lines have already formed outside the boutique since its debut.

The arrival of Rolex in East Hampton underscores the East End’s evolution from a summer retreat into a global luxury stage. From the Hamptons Fine Art Fair to philanthropic galas, the region draws tastemakers who view fine watches as part of a broader lifestyle of art, culture, and legacy.

With its blend of heritage architecture, Hamptons character, and Rolex’s enduring craftsmanship, the boutique is destined to become a seasonal pilgrimage for collectors and a year-round fixture in East Hampton life. Here, timelessness is more than a brand ideal—it is built into the walls themselves.

Luxury Ski Town Real Estate Remains Strong Despite Market Shifts https://clubestates.com/real-estate/luxury-ski-town-real-estate-remains-strong-despite-market-shifts/ Sat, 22 Feb 2025 01:57:52 +0000 https://clubestates.com/?p=10420 The post Luxury Ski Town Real Estate Remains Strong Despite Market Shifts appeared first on Club Estates.

Ski town real estate continues to be a major draw for affluent buyers, with U.S. resort markets proving resilient despite economic shifts. According to reports from Engel & Völkers and Sotheby’s International Realty, luxury ski properties remain in high demand, with prices rising even as overall sales volumes have dipped.

In 2024, prime ski destinations such as Vail, Colorado; Park City, Utah; Big Sky, Montana; and Sun Valley, Idahosaw notable price increases. In Vail, home prices rose by an average of 5% year-over-year, with ultra-luxury listings reaching $8,800 per square foot. Sotheby’s data further highlighted that ski communities in Telluride, Aspen, Jackson Hole, and Whitefish experienced some of the largest jumps in average sale prices, with increases of up to 12.42%.

Limited Inventory Driving Prices Higher

A key factor supporting strong pricing in ski resort communities is limited inventory. Many ski areas are privately owned or situated on U.S. Forest Service land, making new development challenging and keeping supply low.

This scarcity is a primary driver of price stability, with markets such as Vail & Beaver Creek seeing a record 9.4% year-over-year increase—the highest in the region’s history. Other ski towns like Steamboat Springs, Crested Butte, and North Lake Tahoe also reported steady appreciation, despite fewer transactions compared to previous years.

“Despite a 25% drop in transactions compared to pre-pandemic levels, dollar volume in Vail continues to hit record highs,” said Alex Griffin, Vice President and Managing Broker at LIV Sotheby’s International Realty, Vail Valley.

The report found that 12 out of 17 profiled ski resort communities saw an increase in price per square foot, with an average rise of 4.5%. Markets like Telluride, Aspen, and Jackson Hole witnessed double-digit growth in top sale prices, underscoring strong demand for elite ski properties.

Buyers Seek More Than Just Skiing

While proximity to world-class slopes remains a key draw, today’s buyers are increasingly prioritizing four-season lifestyle appeal. Many are seeking properties that provide access to activities like hiking, fly-fishing, golf, and fine dining.

“Ski-home buyers are seeking a year-round retreat,” said Paul Benson of Engel & Völkers Park City. “They want a home that offers access to a variety of outdoor activities and a community that fits their lifestyle.”

This trend is evident in emerging resort hubs like Whitefish, Montana, where new airport expansions are making access easier, and Sandpoint, Idaho, where Alterra Mountain Company’s acquisition of Schweitzer Mountain Resort is signaling further investment in the region.

Additionally, events like Deer Valley’s expansion and Utah’s bid for the 2034 Winter Olympics are fueling real estate activity, particularly in Park City and Snowmass Village.

Who’s Buying? A High-Net-Worth, Domestic Market

The luxury ski home market is largely driven by wealthy domestic buyers, with 99% of Vail homebuyers being U.S.-based and many already residing in Colorado, Utah, Montana, or Wyoming.

The typical buyer profile includes individuals in their mid-40s to mid-60s, working in the finance or tech industries, with an annual income of at least $500,000.

Several factors are fueling demand for U.S. ski properties:

 • Geopolitical uncertainty and foreign investment restrictions in countries like Canada and Switzerland have made U.S. resort markets more attractive.
 • Many ski towns offer exclusive amenities, including private clubs, five-star dining, and curated experiencesthat appeal to high-net-worth individuals.
 • Infrastructure improvements in resort towns like Big Sky and Jackson Hole are enhancing accessibility and desirability.

Outlook for 2025: Competitive Yet Balanced

Looking ahead, real estate experts predict a more balanced market in 2025, though competition for prime properties will remain fierce. With inventory still constrained and demand holding strong, prices are expected to continue their upward trend.

“For many buyers, it’s no longer just about skiing or snowboarding—it’s about the full lifestyle experience that begins when they step off the slopes,” Benson said.

With ongoing investments in resort infrastructure, increased accessibility, and high buyer interest, the U.S. ski home market is poised to remain one of the most desirable luxury real estate segments.

Texas has long been a popular destination for those seeking warm weather, a business-friendly economy, and an exceptional quality of life. But if you’re an avid golfer, Texas might just be your dream state. With its year-round golf-friendly climate, a vast selection of top-tier courses, and a thriving golf culture, Texas offers golfers of all skill levels an unparalleled experience. Here’s why moving to the Lone Star State is a hole-in-one decision—especially if you love golf.

1. Year-Round Golfing Weather

One of the biggest draws for golfers considering a move to Texas is the climate. While summers can be hot, fall, winter, and spring offer ideal golfing conditions, especially in central and southern parts of the state. Unlike northern states, where courses shut down for the winter, Texas golfers can hit the links every month of the year. Whether you prefer the lush rolling hills of the Hill Country or the coastal breezes of the Gulf, Texas’ diverse climate zones offer a variety of golf experiences.

2. A Golf Course for Every Style of Play

Texas is home to more than 900 golf courses, catering to a wide range of playing styles and preferences. Whether you prefer the classic parkland courses found in Dallas and Houston, the breathtaking resort courses in Austin and San Antonio, or the challenging desert layouts in West Texas, the state has something for everyone. Some of the most renowned courses include:

 • TPC San Antonio (AT&T Oaks Course) – A PGA Tour stop and one of the finest courses in the state.
 • Dallas National Golf Club – Known for its immaculate conditioning and exclusivity.
 • Austin Country Club – A favorite among top players, hosting the WGC-Dell Match Play event.
 • Colonial Country Club (Fort Worth) – A historic gem that hosts the annual Charles Schwab Challenge.
 • The Clubs at Houston Oaks – A golfer’s paradise set in a serene, private setting.

With public, semi-private, and private courses at every price point, Texas provides golfers with abundant options to play and practice.

3. Lower Cost of Living & No State Income Tax

Texas is one of the few states with no state income tax, making it an attractive destination for professionals, retirees, and entrepreneurs alike. Compared to states like California and New York, housing and living expenses are generally lower, allowing golfers to stretch their dollars further—whether that means upgrading to a home near a top-rated course or investing in a private club membership.

4. Thriving Golf Communities & Private Clubs

For those seeking an immersive golf lifestyle, Texas offers some of the best private golf communities in the country. These communities combine luxurious living with championship golf, often featuring resort-style amenities, elite practice facilities, and access to social events. Some of the most sought-after golf communities include:

 • Vaquero Club (Westlake, TX) – A private haven designed by Tom Fazio, attracting PGA Tour pros and celebrities.
 • Cordillera Ranch (Boerne, TX) – A stunning Jack Nicklaus Signature course nestled in the Texas Hill Country.
 • Bluejack National (Montgomery, TX) – A Tiger Woods-designed golf course with a laid-back luxury feel.
 • Escondido Golf & Lake Club (Horseshoe Bay, TX) – A top-rated private club offering both golf and waterfront activities.
 • Great Hills Country Club (Austin, TX) – One of only three member-owned private clubs in Austin, currently undergoing renovation by Chet Williams, whose recent project was named Golf Digest’s Best New Course of 2025.

These communities provide a seamless blend of leisure, camaraderie, and world-class golf—making Texas an even more attractive place to call home.

5. Growing Economy & Job Opportunities

Texas is a magnet for professionals and entrepreneurs, thanks to its strong economy, business-friendly policies, and diverse job market. Major metropolitan areas like Dallas, Austin, and Houston are home to Fortune 500 companies, tech startups, and growing industries, making it easy for newcomers to find career opportunities while enjoying their passion for golf. With new residents flocking to Texas daily, the demand for high-end golf experiences and club memberships continues to grow.

6. Premier Golf Events & Tournaments

Living in Texas means you’re never far from a premier golf event. The state hosts multiple professional tournaments, including:

 • The Valero Texas Open (San Antonio) – One of the oldest tournaments on the PGA Tour.
 • The Charles Schwab Challenge (Fort Worth) – Hosted at the historic Colonial Country Club.
 • Houston Open (Houston) – A longstanding stop on the PGA Tour, attracting top players.
 • The WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play (Austin) – Held at the stunning Austin Country Club.

For golf enthusiasts, this means front-row access to some of the best tournaments in the world, along with opportunities to watch and interact with elite players.

7. A Golf-Friendly Culture & Social Scene

Beyond the courses, Texas offers a vibrant golf culture that brings together players of all ages and skill levels. With numerous golf leagues, networking events, and social gatherings at private clubs, it’s easy to find a community of like-minded individuals who share your passion for the game. The state is also home to innovative golf entertainment venues like Topgolf, Drive Shack, and PGA Frisco, making golf accessible and fun for everyone.

If golf is a major part of your lifestyle, Texas checks all the boxes. With its warm climate, elite courses, private golf communities, no state income tax, and booming economy, it’s no wonder that golfers from across the country are making the move. Whether you’re looking for a new home near a championship course, seeking membership at an exclusive club, or simply want to enjoy golf-friendly weather year-round, Texas delivers the ultimate golfer’s paradise.

So, if you’re thinking about relocating, why not pick a state where you can live, work, and golf without limits? Texas might just be the perfect place for your next great adventure.

Want to explore one of the most picturesque regions in California? Take a road trip along the 17-Mile Drive, where you can see the best parts of the Monterey Peninsula – one of California’s most iconic destinations. The 17-Mile Drive is a perfect day-long road trip, offering striking ocean vistas, breathtaking coastal real estate, along with some of the most popular golf courses in the world.

Spanish Bay Beach

People will have the opportunity to see a soft and beautiful white beach where they can enjoy a unique stroll along the boardwalk. It’s also worth it for visitors to take their shoes off and enjoy the sand feeling between their toes. People can also see the iconic golf course, The Links at Spanish Bay when stopping on Spanish Bay Beach. This beach was called after Spanish explorers who were trying to find Monterey Bay at this spot in 1769.

Also recommend stopping into The Inn at Spanish Bay at sunset to watch/listen to the bagpiper while enjoying a beverage at the firepits.

Point Joe

In the past, many people thought that Point Joe was the entrance to Monterey Bay’s southern end. This led many ships to crash there. People will find a lookout point at this rocky area, where they can learn who Joe is and what significance he had back in time. China Rock

China Rock is an essential and exciting historical stop along the 17-Mile Drive in Monterey. This used to be a small Chinese fishing village in the past. When visitors look closely at the rocks there, they will be able to see some caked-on cooking smoke that date back to the late 1800s.

Bird Rock

Nature lovers will greatly appreciate the seventh stop along the 17-Mile Drive, Bird Rock. The latter earned its name because there are many birds in the area. People will also have the chance to see seals and sea lions when stopping at Bird Rock. Additionally, it’s a great spot to snap some amazing shots, thanks to the mesmerizing rocky shores. Bird Rock was also covered in around 5 feet of cormorant guano and pelican until 1930. It was later harvested as a fertilizer.

 • Tip: When stopping at Bird Rock between November and March, people are advised to check the flukes and spouts of migrating grey whales.

Cypress Point Lookout

This is a uniquely exciting and fantastic stop along the 17-Mile Drive. People will mostly appreciate the sunset at Cypress Point and take in the amazing views. Additionally, this area is Southern California’s westernmost part. Just southeast of Cypress Point Lookout, there is a stunning coastline known as Sunset Point. The latter is an exclusive neighborhood that boasts mansions from the Roaring Twenties.

The Lone Cypress

This is the 17-Mile Drive’s most famous stop. The Lone Cypress is home to the only Monterey Cypress Tree, which grew on a rock off Pebble Beach’s shores. This tree is thought to be more than 250 years old. Although it had one of its branches broken due to a massive storm in 2019, the Monterey Cypress Tree is still strong as ever until this day. Because the Lone Cypress is so famous, people will see its tree as part of Pebble Beach’s official logo. However, due to losing one of its branches, it now looks smaller than on the logo.

Ghost Trees At Pescadero Point

Here, people will be able to see many Monterey Cypresses that were bleached by the sun. The trees’ barks have also been stripped by the harsh rainstorms and winds there. The Ghost Trees at Pescadero Point is also a legendary Big Wave surf spot. During the right winter conditions, swells approach 50 feet in this area.

People can further learn, at the Pebble Beach Visitors Center, about the area’s history through more than 20 exhibits that are held at this stop. Souvenirs and drinks can also be bought from this center, which is also a retail shop. It is also worth checking the interactive map to ensure that none of the scenic stops along the 17-Mile Drive have been missed.

Pebble Beach Golf Links

When people refer to “Pebble Beach,” they will mostly be talking about the world-famous golf course, Pebble Beach Golf Links. People will have the chance to see the greens up close when stopping here. They will also witness the golfers on the course on the first hole, where they are just getting started with their round. People can also see the 18th hole to see the golfers finishing their round.

With real estate and golf experiencing a bit of a resurgence, there’s a chance these days, that perhaps, you’re thinking of joining a private club. Here’s the thing, joining a club’s membership is not for everyone. But for some golfers, it is one of the best investments they can make.

Perks like unlimited golf, the ability to meet new people, play in competitive tournaments, and enjoy all the facilities, are just a few of the many benefits ot membership. Here are 5 things to consider when you’re ready and how to join a private club.

Step 1: Make a List of your Wants and Needs in a Club

Not everyone in your household may be interested in golf. Consider what other amenities would benefit your family when joining a club. Are you looking for a club that has a spa or gym to workout and relax? Maybe summer camp programs for your kids?

Step 2: Research The Golf & Country Clubs in Your Area

One of the worst things golfers can do is join the first club they visit. Think about it, you wouldn’t buy a car at the first lot you visit, would you? Then why would you do that with golf?

Instead, do a deep dive on all the golf clubs in your area. Research online, ask friends, golfing buddies, and more. Compile a list, think about its location to home/work, and if you know any members at the club already.

The majority of members live within a 15 minute drive of their club. So be mindful of how far you’re willing to drive to optimize your usage.

Step 3: Play a Round

Almost all clubs will usually offer a “Member for a Day” where you can trial the facilities. They typically wine and dine you, pair you up with some members or allow you to bring a guest or two to play 18 holes.

Also, some clubs might even offer a trial membership where you pay a certain amount per week or per month to give it a test run. If this is available, we highly recommend it as you’ll pretty quickly realize if it’s the right fit for you or not. Remember also, they’re feeling you out, as much as you are them.

Step 4: Calculate the Costs

Once you’ve tried out some courses or played a few rounds, now is time to compare the costs. Write down everything in a Google sheet or Excel spreadsheet to compare to your list of wants and needs in Step 1.

In this step, you will want to consider the type of membership you want and if any family members are joining.

Step 5: Apply to Join the Club

If you’ve done your research and found one you love (not like, but love), pull the trigger. Usually, you have to fill out an application with more information about yourself, job, income, etc. Depending on the course, they might also ask for letters of recommendations from others or even from fellow golfers already at the club.

Make sure to take everything slow and don’t feel like you have to make a decision instantly. Remember, if it doesn’t feel right or you don’t like the vibe of the club or members, run the other way. You want to join a place that makes you feel welcome and gives off a fun, inviting atmosphere. The last thing you want to do is join a club and end up hating it or are stuck in a long-term contract.

The Most Stunning Places for Fall Foliage Golf in the U.S. https://clubestates.com/top-stories/the-most-stunning-places-for-fall-foliage-golf-in-the-u-s/ Thu, 21 Oct 2021 03:56:59 +0000 https://clubestates.com/?p=7985 The post The Most Stunning Places for Fall Foliage Golf in the U.S. appeared first on Club Estates.

]]>

There might be a lot of people out there who are not ready for summer to end, but it’s not all bad news. It’s time for sweater weather, hot apple cider, and best of all, seeing the leaves change from the lush greens of summer to the bright golds, oranges, and reds of autumn, so we’ve rounded up the best golf courses to play in the fall foliage around the country.

Over the next few months, each state will experience its own, unique view of fall. Bundle up, grab a camera, pack your clubs and visit any of these gorgeous spots in the United States – from Vermont to Colorado – to view fall colors at their best.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Colorado

Spanning both sides of the continental divide, Rocky Mountain National Park glows with quaking aspens, their gold and copper canopies contrasting elegantly with their silvery trunks. Aspens thrive at elevations between 7,000 and 9,500 feet, so head to the lush valleys of Hollowell Park, Beaver Meadows, and Glacier Gorge, which are also home to pumpkin-orange cottonwoods.

Where to play when visiting Rocky Mountain National Park

While visiting take in a round of golf. There are two beautiful courses in Estes Park, which are surrounded by spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains and frequently visited by wildlife.

Estes Park 18-Hole Golf Course, ranked as the sixth most beautiful golf course in the U.S. in The Golf Book of Lists, offers complete practice facilities, including a driving range, putting green, chipping area, as well as club rental, motorized golf carts, award-winning restaurant and pro-shop. The course is located on the southeast side of Estes Park, approximately 60 miles northwest of Denver, Colo. Course is open from mid-April through October.

The Ozarks

Missouri

The Ozarks is a mountain region that covers swaths of Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma with a surrealistically thick blanket of trees dotted with serene lakes. And come fall, those otherworldly vibes get even more surreal when those colors start popping off. For a greatest hits moment, hit up the unbelievably scenic Talimena, a 54-mile stretch of road that manages to be the most scenic drive in two states.

Where to play when visiting The Ozarks

Adding to an amazing list of world-class golf courses, Big Cedar Lodge recently introduced Ozarks National, Missouri’s first and only golf course designed by architect duo Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The 18-hole layout features challenging carries and a variety of visually appealing approach shots that are highlighted by the native habitat. The course also includes interesting features, such as a 400-foot wooden beam and plank bridge, which connects the tee box and fairway of the 13th hole that stands 60-feet above a flowing creek.

Minnesota’s North Shore

Minnesota

One of the most stunning stretches of road in America, Minnesota’s North Shore is a dream in all seasons, spanning the shores of Lake Superior from the town of Duluth all the way to the base of Minnesota’s tallest waterfall. Here, the colors shift into a rainbow that reflects off the choppy waters of Superior and sway collectively in seas of trees along 150 winding, often soaring miles of adventure. Be sure to stop often. Possibly overnight. The beer scene here is one of America’s overlooked, especially when the fall offerings drop.

Where to play when visiting Minnesota’s North Shore

Set between the North Shore and the Sawtooth Mountain Range, Superior National Golf Course pairs untamed beauty with unparalleled play – now enhanced by a $4.6 million renovation. Renowned golf architect Jeffrey Brauer refined the signature challenges of the River and Canyon courses with “Ohio’s Best” white sand for the newly built bunkers, five new sets of tees, wider fairways, new efficient irrigation and drainage, and immaculate, larger greens.

Stowe

Vermont

It’s no wonder Stowe is called “Fall’s Color Capital.” With so many plants turning varying shades of yellow, red, orange, and brown from September through mid-October, it’s a spectacular place to hike and ride. Even if the weather gets chilly, you can take a scenic drive down the Mount Mansfield Auto Toll Road.

Where to play when visiting Stowe, Vermont

The Stowe Country Club, located in the heart the Stowe Village, occupies what was once a turn-of-the-century dairy farm and has evolved into a splendid course showcasing beautiful undulating fairways and manicured greens. As a challenging and rewarding test of skill, Stowe Country Club golf course offers 360-degree views of the mountains, and offers weekly and seasonal memberships.

Taos

New Mexico

While most people associate leaf peeping with the Northeast, people in the Southwest deserts can also enjoy some changing seasonal colors. The Southwestern landscape of New Mexico is a must-see in the fall, especially by driving around one of America’s most scenic drives: The Enchanted Circle. This 83-mile drive connects the towns of Taos, Eagle Nest, Red River, and Questa — and it contains some spectacular views.

Where to play when visiting Taos, New Mexico

Golf at Angel Fire Resort is surrounded by the majestic southern Rocky Mountains in Angel Fire, New Mexico. The front nine incorporates a longer-playing layout that meanders through two unspoiled canyons of aspen, spruce, and pine, while the back nine offers links-style play with smaller greens and plenty of bunkers. The signature hole, #6, places the golfer on the tee box 200 vertical feet above the green, 239 yards away, surrounded by groves of aspen trees and towering pine.
